First of all, we hope you don’t have to postpone (especially if you have had to do so once already). However, we realize that some are choosing to do so out of an abundance of caution, even though many officials believe it is still safe as long as all wedding guests are fully vaccinated. With that in mind, we want to consider some important steps to make if your decision is to postpone your wedding date due to the rising number of delta variant cases.

  • Contact Your Wedding Vendors Immediately – (1) It’s the right thing to do if you will be backing out on an agreement. (2) It will give you the best shot at rebooking all your vendors for the same day. (3) You may not be the only one trying to change your dates.
  • Strategize How to Inform Wedding Guests – You need to let your guests know ASAP so they can change their plans. First, this may mean canceling or changing travel plans and trying to get money back or have tickets changed to new dates. Second, they may need to contact work to transfer days off once you know your new wedding date.
  • It’s Okay to Be Sad – You’re still going to get your big day, but it won’t be as soon as you hoped. Knowing that many others are going through the same thing doesn’t make it easier emotionally, so take the time you need to grieve.
