There are many elements of wedding ceremonies and receptions that have become traditional and that often involve the help of wedding entertainers. Of course, it is up to each couple to decide what traditions will make it into their special day. Here are a few common events that you may want to include:
- The Processional (and Recessional) – Many couples choose to have at least the bride walk down the aisle to music (often accompanied by her father). Other variations include bridesmaids being escorted by groomsmen or even other family members being part of the processional. The recessional includes the bride and groom and usually the wedding party exiting to predetermined songs (often this is to allow them to leave quickly to have pictures taken before the reception).
- The First Dance – The bride and groom dance together for the first time as a married couple. They will often refer to the song they dance to as “our song” throughout their marriage.
- The Cake Cutting – While the serving staff will slice the cake and serve it to guests, the couple will usually cut into it first. It’s a great photo opportunity (and commonly ends with cake on someone’s face).
- Dinner and Dancing – Many weddings include a meal and a dance party, although some weddings offer drinks and cocktails instead of a full meal.
